Haupt Lakrits salty licorice pieces contain 9% raw licorice from Calabria – significantly more than conventional licorice varieties, which usually only contain 2 to 6% raw licorice. The aroma is intense, with subtle notes of herbs, tobacco, and tar. The taste is powerful, salty, and slightly smoky, rounded off by a mild salmiak note. The consistency offers noticeable chewing resistance and the surface is dry. The mouthfeel is balanced and leaves a long-lasting aftertaste. Production is carried out in the traditional way: through an 8-hour cooking process and a 10-week maturation period.
